Mr. Rob and I were blessed to be at The Basement last Saturday night. The Basement is a hip hop church hosted by Dream Center Peoria and takes place on the first Saturday night of each month. The next service will be on June 4, 2011. At the very first night there were around 130 people (young and old) that came out to celebrate and lift up the Lord. There was a performance by some young men, several ministerial dances, and some videos by Lecrae and Tedashii.
If you are wondering what the atmosphere was like, well...it was like church. Pastor Joe brought the Word, teaching about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego out the third chapter in the book of Daniel. He explained that going through the fire tests us. We got to see that the three Hebrew boys would not bow to the false gods and got thrown into the fiery furnace only to be spared by God. There was even a fourth figure in the fire with them that looked like a man (Jesus). God kept them and He can keep you too as you go through the fire.
Robbie Criss aka Mr. Rob gave a powerful testimony that brought the need for a Savior home and a large number of young people either received Christ or rededicated themselves to Him. It was a beautiful site to behold. The angels had to have been rejoicing as souls were being saved. We'll try to get some video eventually so you can see some of the highlights.
